MUSIC Carnatic Music is one of the three Classical Music systems of World Music, the other two being Hindustani Music (practiced predominantly in Northern India) and Western Classical Music (practiced predominantly in the continents of Europe and America). Training in Carnatic Music with basic knowledge of the nuances of this classical art form is of great help in excelling in other forms of music like playback singing for films, ghazals, fusion (or confusion!) etc. At Kensri School, Carnatic Music has been integrated into the syllabus of the school. Commencing with small songs of simple tunes, the children from standard one are trained in various aspects of music like perfect alignment to the basic pitch (Sruti), a strong sense of rhythm (Tala) to mention a few. The children are also introduced to musical concepts like varieties of Raga-s, aspects of Tala-s, features of musical forms, composers of music and important milestones in the history of Carnatic Music.
