Cricket

The primary role of the coach at any level is to create an atmosphere of fun and enjoyment. This is certainly a fundamental principle that exists with in the environment of the KENSRI cricket team and has contributed to our success over a significant period of time.

For all coaches, whether they operate with young children, or exist in the hurly-burly of international cricket, having FUN while learning or playing is essential to develop appreciation of this great game of cricket.

One of our primary duties as a coach is to ensure that we have given the players with whom we work the opportunity to broaden their skill base. These skills range from technical (batting, bowling fast and slow, throwing, catching, wicket keeping), physical(speed, reaction, running, coordination, balance), mental(knowing how and when to make decisions), tactical(understanding strategy- applying it and responding to it), leadership(captaincy, responsibility and accountability), intellectual(the ability to think, problem solve), social(playing and training together as an individual within a group), emotional(being able to share or sympathies with inner feelings) and so on.

Well, all of this might sound quite complex, it is what most of us do everyday of our lives as parent, teachers, employers, employees- we coach! As a coach we have the chance to impact on the lives of young people in a very significant and positive way.

Candidates will be instructed in the key areas of principles of coaching, principles of teaching, communication and group management, physical training and coaching cricket.
